With a voice that's appropriately warm and bright, songwriter Elizabeth Chan specializes in original Christmas and holiday music. Some of her songs, including 2013's "Fa La La" and 2018's "Best Gift Ever," have reached the Top 20 of Billboard adult contemporary chart.
A native of New York City, Chan landed a record deal as a teenager but forged a career as a media executive when her recording career didn't go as planned. Missing writing and performing, she eventually self-released a five-song Christmas EP, Naughty & Nice, in 2012. Chan then formed Merry Bright Music Enterprises and released her full-length debut, Everyday Holidays, in October of 2013. Later that year, the track "Fa La La" reached number seven on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.
She followed her chart success with the seven-song Christmas in the City in 2014. Its title track reached the Top 30 of the same chart when it reappeared on the 12-track Red and Green in October of 2015. A year later, Five Golden Rings comprised a mix of covers and original Christmas tunes as well as a Spanish version of "Fa La La." Continuing to release original songs on an annual basis, she returned with Songs for Noelle in 2017. Its "Ghosts of Christmas Past" peaked at number 12 on the adult contemporary chart. She delivered Best Gift Ever in time for the Christmas season of 2018, and its title track reached number 11. ~ Marcy Donelson~ Rovi
